Government Shutdown

Everyone knows America is built on a strong flexible government kept in control through checks-and-balances, ever wondered if our government could shut down? Or how it would affect you if it did? Well on Saturday April 9,2011 it nearly did. With the Democrats and republicans fighting over the new bill that congress comes up with every 6 months to help with our countries currency, few people thought they would come up with a compromise fast enough. Though many people speculated that the government would close down, luckily, it didn't. What would have happened had the government actually shut down though? First all the free parks people are able to go to such as the Smithsonian would close down or would cost money in order to go into. Then the people in the military would not be being paid so they wouldn't go into work everyday to protect our nation. Those are just some of the minor things that would have happened had our government closed down, and as everyone can see those really aren't that minor, so we should all be quite thankful the people in congress had managed to find a compromise.
